Review of regulation for use of DG sets in NCR

Dear friends,

CAQM has issued Direction No. 76 dated 29.09.23 on use of Diesel Gensets in NCR.

Please note that the Three month Extension the CAQM has offered till 31.12.23 is ONLY FOR EMERGENCY SERVICESmentioned in the Directions. Extension is NOT for Industries.

However, there is some relief for Industries using existing Diesel Gensets above 125Kw to 800 Kw.
Earlier they had to convert to Dual Fuel and install RECD also.
Now they can either Convert to Dual-fuel OR install RECD.

Moreover, all such generators that run on Gas or Dual fuel or New Diesel Gensets Meeting with CPCB-4 norms, have been allowed to run even during the GRAP and there s no time/ duration restriction.

Diesel Gensets upto 19Kw can be used as it is without Conversion to dual-fuel, except during GRAP.

Summary:
Here are the options and what action businesses in Delhi NCR must take for Existing Diesel Gensets:

1. For existing Diesel Gensets less than 19Kw. Do nothing.

2. For existing Diesel Gensets 19Kw to 125 Kw:
Take Gas Connection and Convert to Dual- Fuel 70 Gas: 30 Diesel.

2. For existing Diesel Genset more than 125Kw to 800Kw, you have two options:
Either take Gas Connection and Convert existing Diesel Gensets to Dual- Fuel 70 Gas: 30 Diesel
Or
Just Install only RECD on existing Diesel Genset. No need to take Gas Connection or conversion

3. For Gensets more than 800Kw, just install RECD

New Genset Options:
4. Install 100% Gas Genset of any capacity

5. Install New Diesel Genset of CPCB4 norms of any capacity

The above is effective from 1st October 23.
Extension of time till 31st December 23 as mentioned in Directions is ONLY for Emergency Services mentioned in the Order.
